The fashion world is buzzing about…
This week everyone (not only in the fashion world) is talking about Kanye West Yeezy Season 3 extravaganza show in NY. We decided to note down for you the final and most important saying of the few big fashion guns reporting about the collection:
“The show’s problems were of a different sort, and in a way they reflect the general state of the fashion world in particular, the sense that an experience often begins with delight and almost always ends with a feeling of nothingness”. commented Cathy Horyn at the Cut who also said: “Shut Up. Relax. You have won.”
Just to remind she’s been also quite straight-forward about Kanye West second season: “Kanye West’s second round of drab, broken-down basics proved he can’t be taken seriously as a designer”.
“Yeezy was the event of the week. We’re not sure if we buy that, but if West wants to put the focus on his fashion, not his politics, then we’ll play along. The Yeezy vibe is a consistent one”. Vogue
“Kanye West’s refugee-camp fashion show was stunning (The clothes, not so much)…The shoes are the big sellers and there were desert boots as well as snug-fitting, booty-style heels. And it was all shown in a warm palette of saffron, cayenne and coco. Fine. Wearable. Nice job.”. The Washington Post
“He sold tickets, thousands and thousands of them at $50 to $135 a pop. They were all gone within ten minutes. But you can’t expect people to pay that much money to sit and listen to an album. You gotta give them a show…. And also, the clothes that Kanye is making with Adidas are an evolutionary sportswear proposition. There was more colour than before, and a new graphic element that emphasised the articulation of the garments, but his formula for women remained secondskin athleticism, with oversize outerwear (desirable, that)”. BOF
“He was also reportedly selling t-shirts with designed with his late mother Donda West and Robert Kardashian’s faces at the venue. West was spotted wearing a shirt with both designs backstage”. Harper’s Bazaar
Harper’s Bazzar had a different approach to the story this year, they featured a girl who was cast in the Yeezy Season 3 show and her personal look into the event. You can read the story here.
