The ribcage jeans that stole my heart

By |Published On: April 10th, 2019|

There’s something about high-waisted jeans that every mom loves, and it must be how they fit and hold everything in all the right places.

So, when Levi’s launched their amplified high-rise style ribcage jeans, inspired by a ’90s Levi’s 501 (which, by the way, was my very first pair of jeans as a young girl), I was ready to celebrate! Not only are they an iconic wardrobe staple to wear all year long, but they’ve changed the way most of my mom friends and I feel about wearing jeans!

Suddenly jeans feel sexy and chic again; elegant and flattering for every shape, and so easy to style. Just think of Marilyn Monroe’s high-waisted jeans, belt, and tucked-in shirt in the 1961 movie ‘The Misfits‘. It’s one of my favourite iconic looks and it has nothing to do with the baggy jeans moms are often associated with.

Need I mention how comfortable the ribcage jeans are in any situation, from bending down to lift your crying kid to folding the stroller and pushing it into the back of your car?

This reminds me of the story of why high-waisted jeans first came into style. In the 1940s, the denim manufacturer Levi’s produced jeans for women working on the land and in factories for the war effort. The style was popular throughout all aspects of women’s clothing at the time and allowed them to retain their modesty while bending down to work!

The best thing about the new Levi’s ribcage jeans is how effortlessly you can incorporate them into an outfit — with a little inspiration from iconic Hollywood movies — to hit the latest vintage 70s and 80s trends spot-on.

Below are some of the ways I’ am wearing my pair of Levi’s ribcage jeans.
