Mode Suisse Edition 11

By |Published On: February 9th, 2017|

For 6 years now MODE SUISSE has been fostering and promoting Swiss Design Talent in a distinctively understated way. They mix both raw individualism with fashion norm-core, and anti-fashion sentiment with intellectual outspoken fashion. This week Edition 11 presented 10 fashion labels together with HEAD -Genève, showcasing Masters’ students with their capsule collection from the renowned Geneva School of Art and Design.

Amongst the runway names was that of high-achiever, Julia Seemann, who won the V Files Made Fashion and had the unique chance to open the New York Fashion Week Fall/Winter 2015 with her graduate collection “Another Composition”. Julia Seemann worked for Vivianne Westwood and Meadham Kirchhoff in London. According to London Fashion week, her pieces defining signature is the balance they possess of minimalism, art, and nostalgia. The designer uses harsh textures and brings geometric forms to the body, deconstructing the look and letting femininity out, revealing the wearer. Her woman is in many ways modern day Wonder woman.

Iran-born LIDA NOBA presented her new collection with a new approach to femininity, not afraid of color and intricate details. Lida always tries to capture that delicate, soft feminine touch in everything she creates. And you can be sure to find elements from her homeland Iran throughout her collection. “This is where I come from and my true identity lies there.” Her creativity is very much sparked by the connection to her homeland, it’s culture, colorful textiles, architecture, poets, and cities like Isfahan, Yazd, Shiraz and Kashan that are near and dear to her heart. “I would always like LIDA NOBA to represent my culture in some way that it is easily understood worldwide”, said the designer some time ago for Not Just a Label.

The Zurich Label for luxury handmade lingerie and swimwear LYN LINGERIE proved again that wearing their exclusive fine pieces is sometimes the key to feeling the triangle of sexy, sensual, and confident. Their handmade collection will soon be available at Breuninger Germany.

The other names on the last night show were Swiss fashion golden boy Julian Zigerli showing womens’ wear for the second time and what he is known for – gender fluid menswear. This time it possessed a sense of romanticism and nostalgia.  WUETHRICHFUERST made their much-anticipated debut. Karin Wüthrich and Matthias Fürst founded the label WUETHRICHFUERST after graduating from the Institute of Fashion Design Basel. The focus of their work doesn’t lie in the seasonal creation of new collections, but rather in the sustainable extension of one collection continuously growing through the development of smaller series.

Mode Suisse habitué, Adrian Reber, chose gold and up-cycled fur for the men next season. Zurich well-established enSoie had the audience craving the nonchalant style every girl on vacation owns. No matter how much we tried to imagine and be that girl, her style doesn’t resonate so much with the Mums in Heels style (the other half of our team – the mums in slippers doesn’t much agree with that, but well, I got to write the article ;)

The show was closed with the desirable puffed duvet jackets in striking fuchsia and easily flowing dresses of special guest designer Dorothee Vogel.
