Memories of Style (never gone bad)
This post and outfit is dedicated to my mother and her mother who have a long-lasting and deeply meaningful influence over my style. It is something I came to realize only now after years of sartorial wanderings. No matter how resistant I felt to dresses and full skirts in my teens I know now that there is a certain DNA in the way we dress.
Up to this day I still remember my grandmother’s fetishism to scarves, pearls and brooches and my mother’s obsession with black broderie anglaise and 60s cat-eye sunnies (and wedges). Today I have three black broderie anglaise dresses in my wardrobe and countless brooches, I still am a fan of oversized round glasses and not much of a pearl gal (instead I like to wear ropes), but one never knows. Time (and age) changes everything. You have to stay open-minded and shock yourself from time to time.

So my question is how did your mother and grandmother influence your style and do you have one favourite piece that you still remember and connect with your sweetest child memories? Do you still keep that moment deep into your heart when you saw your mom wearing her swimwear or sunnies and you knew you will always remember her like that? I do.
My mum was going out dancing, her hair was up in a small bun and her bateau neckline was emphasizing the oval shape of her face and her long neck. The dress had a tight waist and the skirt was midi. I remember my mum had the highest heels I could imagine at that time. She was really tiny and looked like a bird, fragile but vibrant and elegant. Her only accessory was her bright red lipstick.
Mom, this is for you….I also know you love pineapples.
