Summer is just around the corner and school holidays too. I don’t know about you, but I am already booking Kids Summer Camps and feeling really excited to travel again. This year I am more mindful than ever about choosing my next escape, looking not just for an eco resort that promotes sustainable lifestyle, but also for an authentic experience, far from the well-known touristic spots and usual noise, a place where I can restore my energy, nurture my body and spirit and find inspiration to keep living my purpose again.

In the last few years more sustainable resorts have appeared on the world map, offering nature-friendly ways of unplugging and recharging your batteries. The last couple of years people have become more aware around their habits and lifestyle choice and how they affect our environment. Our planet has begun to heal and climate change has decreased thanks to the reduced traveling and the less active lifestyle. It’s important not to forget but to learn about the damage we have caused to our home planet and value the second chance we have to rediscover it.

While I am on the look for the right eco resort, I am also mindful of my deeper need for a true authentic experience, where everything connects and flows with the sustainable concept, in which local culture, tradition and the idea of slow living is weaved in.

More than eco -friendly

More and more eco hotels dedicated to sustainable and regenerative travel are emerging nowadays around the world. Their intention seems bigger than just nature-friendly and a sustainable lifestyle. One of the latest eco resort I found embraces and honours the local cultural philosophy and way of life, incorporating the land ancestors wisdom and bringing it to life through distinctive design, cuisine, workshops or other experiences. This place encourages its visitors to really take the time to relax, breathe and indulge, curating SPA experiences and incorporating elements of traditional healing rituals and practices that result in profound internal experiences.

Taking a less traveled road can bring you an authentic experience and a personal, more meaningful relationship with the world around you.

eco resort Mallorca

I discovered the eco resort Es Raco D’Arta thanks to the By Adushka founder Karin Kämpf, who initiated a collaboration between the two brands, whose values and approach to lifestyle seem so close. Es Racó d’ Artà lies in the wild north-east corner of Mallorca, spread over 185 hectares of land, surrounding an ancient restored finca. We arrived at the resort on a balmy afternoon at the end of April, driving past swathes of vineyards, citrus orchards, and olive groves. A sense of calm and serenity descended upon us almost instantly, hearing the birds singing a little more jovial here and the colours of nature becoming quieter and more comforting.

We entered the main house of the hotel which brings a sense of rustic minimalism with its restored local marès stone, the broad heavy timber doors, the raw linen and hand-woven hemp carpets and heavy curtains, the unvarnished wood decor and the original artworks by Mallorcan artists. It appears that the eco resort has been transformed by the distinguished Mallorcan architect Toni Esteva, using his signature eye for natural materials and earthy tones. The result is a masterwork of understated luxury and ingenious elegance that connects in the most authentic ways with the local traditions and culture.

A little tired but excited, our By Adushka team sat in the garden, under the olive trees where we were served freshly baked in the house bread with dark green thick olive oil, with a selection of local cheeses and ham.

The concept of this place is to slow down, to breathe, to become present and re-connect with nature and with yourself. In some way that translates to me as achieving a state of inner freedom, liberation of the heart. A state I know well from fashion and from my conscious choice to buy and wear clothes made by different local artisans around the world, designed with passion and story to tell, sustainably and with awareness and respect to cultural heritage and traditions.

Perhaps you have felt that too, some things in life have this power to break limitations and set us free. They are all related to love and passion, the connection we experience with nature and other people, with history, with art and the world’s heritage.

Sustainable fashion and travel

n the last two years I’ve understood how important is to choose such brands that make me feel limitless and whole, that remind me of who I am. For this story, shot at the magical Es Raco D’Arta,  I’ve chosen three styles, handpicked from the By Adushka summer collection.

These are  looks that inspire new paths to discover your own essence and connect with nature and other creative daring people.

The first look I want to share with you (please have a look below) is the perfect reflection of Nomadic Culture, where there’s a mix of modernity with old tradition and cultural reference. The look is composed from two brands which values are rooted in the need for authenticity and a return to the roots, tinged with a desire to escape, a strand of elsewhere, a touch of nostalgia and in the midst of wanderlust. Moismont (the shirt) is above all a house of values and traditions. Run by a French family, known for its premium scarves, shirts and tunics, designed by Adrien Testard, a textile designer based in Paris and hand-woven in India. Infused with ancestral know-how, with a sense of vintage charm and raw love, each Moismont garment is exceptionally soft, ethereally light and comfortable.

The skirt is one of the brands that I know first hand, as I visited last year the designer in Italy and had a chance to spend two exceptional and magical days at her atelier and home in Piemont. Macella Boidi is a nomad at heart, a connoisseur of all things vintage, fabrics, interior and decoration. She loves art, good music, independent films.… fine arts and traditional crafts. As you can imagine every piece I own from Obidi is truly close to my heart. The skirt I am wearing is up-cycled, using vintage kimono fabrics (which Marcella sources for her short coats and kimonos too), handwoven together and mixed with Italian silk. Every experienced world traveler would recognise how precious this piece is and will feel the magic and mystery beneath every stitch.

In combination with the golden sandals this is a hammer  metropolitan evening look, sipping cocktails at a skyscraper rooftop bar, Sex and the City style.

The Zoe Set is a signature set from The Label Edition, a Barcelona based brand that focuses on making ethical fashion, personal, timeless and ageless garments for women who desire effortless elegance and distinctive style.

This set channels my memories of the country side, spent barefoot under the grapevine trellises of my grandparents house, the afternoon nap in the hammock under the cloudless skies, the long lazy hours reading and dreaming and the smell of apples and fresh bread. It is a set made of organic breathable and very light cotton fabric. In fact I have two of those, one in tiny blue and white flowers and the yellow Vichy that’s just like a sunflower.

The last, third look takes me immediately to the souks of Marrakech medina. My imagination runs wild and I am taken to new and old lands with ancient history and beguiling charm. I find this model, made of fine Italian silk, inspired by the old Pasha (middle East) trousers, so sensual and chic, whether you wear with comfortable espadrilles or a pair of high heels sandals and a skimpy top or oversized linen shirt. Honestly they are gorgeous. Shirt by Moismont available at By Adushka.

Adding the right accessories is very important part of your style language. It shows how much you care about details, do you appreciate the little things in life and do you fella pay attention to the small things in life. Here I’ve chosen this little jute bag by The Jacksons, made 100% from pure jute, which is a strong plant grown locally in Bangladesh, handmade by women there. Coquette and chic, just to fit my phone, my book and perhaps a few citrus fruits that can quench my summer thirst. You can choose you own vintage belt., in this case from my personal collection.
