The hottest new hairdo

By |Published On: July 29th, 2016|

Do you remember those iconic moments in Sex and the City when Carry, Samantha, Charlotte and Miranda used to dress up and go for a heartfelt gal powwow and Cosmopolitans at some trendy bar in Manhattan? Then in the last series of the film they were suddenly asking each other how come they’ve stopped drinking Cosmopolitans?

It’s no wonder indeed that girls have long stopped getting together for cocktails or at least not after they have grown into maturity. Looking at most current women TV series, reflecting on real life as well, I’ve realized that drinking cocktails is so passé. What’s become hot is getting together for breakfast, mixing smoothies, discussing Michelle Obama´s style and Hilary’s latest speech while drinking hot lemon water with cayenne pepper.

Despite that social media critics keep hammering on about how The Internet has caused isolation and alienation, I still see gals spending time together, but in a different way. There’s an update to the old drink-so-you-can-have-fun rule. People get together to share real experiences and delve more into their relationships.

This is why we got really excited and proud of our partners Mad Hairstyling when they announced their new venture “The Braid Bar”.

Unless you live on another planet, you probably know that braids have made a big come back over the past year thanks to movie characters like Arwen from Lord of the Rings, Daenerys Targaryen and Sansa Stark from Game of Thrones and Katniss from The Hunger Games. Everyone wants to try it out sometime, for the sake of having a change, being and feeling different, playing with your hair, just like in the old days when we were girls and used to pull our hair up in ponytails, or pin it with flowers and tiaras…play princesses and snow queens.

For the sake of these times or just because I want to look like Katniss, I wish I had someone to braid my hair, to play and make me look like a modern amazon in the city jungle.

As they say, some dreams really can come true, and not only for Christmas. The Braid Bar on Mad Avenue offers to braid your hair any time you want, without an appointment, just before you go out with girlfriends or on your lunch break. Summer in the city, as it turns out, can be fun! Check for further information: www.flechtwerkstatt.ch

Happy Braiding!
