Yes, snow is beautiful and all that, but quite frankly I am done with winter and totally ready for spring. If nothing else because it means we can finally get that spring coat out and the winter boots off!

With the help of the ever-so-stylish Kathy Patellis-Schmidt, we have put together a few helpful hints and tips to help you evolve and update your wardrobe for spring 2017.

The core elements of previous seasons are still here, like the khaki textiles and no-nonsense attitude, but there seems to be more of polished flair this season in the form of a clean-cut, albeit exaggerated, shape and playful parachute toggles used to brighten up the silhouette.

THE NEW ATHLEISURE
Sure, the athleisure look isn´t for everyone. Personally, I love the mix of the relaxed and the more suited and booted – “Is she going to the gym or the office?”
This season sees a more sexy take on athleisure; with skin-skimming knits that outline every curve; colour block bodysuits and cute sporty separates.

SHIRTING A LA SPRING 2017

Every season, designers task themselves with reinventing everyone´s most essential workwear staple: The Button down shirt. In 2017, that looks like one-shoulder split shirts tips,
shirt-dresses with graphic lines and oversized shapes with extended sleeves.
This is a great way to be slightly bolder with your clothing choices: It´s a shirt, nothing scary about that. This one just happens to have some funky sleeves on. Go on, try it!

80s GLAM

As with every “re-invented” decade, those who lived through it the first time remain unsure. Try to look at it as a second chance for a slightly misunderstood fashion decade. There is no need to empty the super strong hairspray just yet, instead feel the 80s vibe with dramatic ruffles, puffed up sleeves, and unapologetic glam vibes.

WORTHY EARRINGS AND NAVEL GRAZING

NECKLACES

Another fairly safe way of trying out a new fashion trend is doing it via accessories. This spring we are talking earrings and necklaces. Big earrings and long necklaces!
Decadent, over the top ear candy. Bold statement long pieces worth their weight in gold.
Be playful by wearing only one earring, or you risk feeling a little like a Christmas tree. The earring and necklace trend this spring feels a lot more grown-up and wearable than last year´s choker trend, which quite frankly, barely looked good in the under 20s.

STATEMENT MAKING SLOGANS
I don´t think there is anyone who hasn’t got anything to say in 2017. This trend is perfect even for the introverted among us: Tees and dresses that do all the talking for you.

STREET CHIC UTILITARIANISM
Oversized pockets, boxy shapes, and ripstop tops and trousers equipped with drawstring cords and toggles. Both practical and comfy!

RAINBOW BRIGHT STRIPES AND HARDENED ROMANTIC LOOKS
Stripes can sometimes feel childish and hard to wear as a grown up. But fear not dear ladies, this season there is a stripe that is right for you!
Stripes in every colour shape and size. Both in broad bands and skinny hypnotic stripes.
Even dresses are given the “stripe treatment”, which gives dresses´ otherwise romantic feel, a bit of an edge.

FLATFORM SHOES
A win for the girls who love the height, but hate the heels!
