A Pearl Story

By |Published On: November 23rd, 2015|

Ronit is a friend of my best friend Kathy. I know it sounds complicated but Kathy is a stylist and the founder of Style Boutique Etc., and she has these amazing fine treasures that can transform you from a Cinderella into a princess without the glass slippers. Among those accessories are Ronit’s pearls. The minute I saw them online I wanted to touch and feel them. Naturally I met Ronit to find out who she was and how she made these fabulous strings and heaps of pearls.

Ronit is the epitome of her pearl necklaces, she exudes confidence, discreet elegance and refined taste. We meet at Globus café and when she opens her “Pandora box” and piles the necklaces on the white plastic table, the whole place starts to shine. The two women at the next table start staring and asking how can they purchase those necklaces. It’s almost Christmas after all.

We get into the subject of how adaptable a string of pearls can be, how versatile and yet so distinctive. Pearls are the new diamonds, not so loud, not so controversial but perfect for any occasion. I have a myriad of ideas in my mind when it comes to styling pearls. What I love the most is that they have the secret power to enhance a woman’s personality and make her stand out in the crowd, look more confident and sophisticated. They can look discreet, but also funky and sexy. Long necklaces can be doubled over to make an elegant multiple strand or tied in a knot at the end to give a touch of vintage and old Hollywood glamour. Collars and chokers look fabulous with plunging necklaces and off-the-shoulder or spaghetti strap dresses. The list is endless. Not to forget Rihanna, who recently showed up at the Dior Cruise show, looking at her most girly – with a pink fluted dress and a strand of pearls wrapped around her tattooed wrists. The good news: There are no more rules to wearing pearls.

Ronit: I love that natural beauty of pearls. To me, when someone wears pearls, this is a sign of exquisite taste and sound fashion sense. Pearls can be worn by young and mature and they are available in a truly  contemporary range of colors, shapes and designs.

Tsitaliya: How did you find your passion for pearls?
Ronit: I have always been interesting in fashion and art. Throughout twenty five years of traveling and absorbing the styles and designs engrained in other cultures, I took particular interest in natural colors and high-quality materials that are fit for classy lifestyles. I therefore started designing and making jewelry seven years ago.

Tsitaliya: Ronit was born in Israel, married to a Swiss diplomat, living in Zurich. Ronit lived in 11 countries across 4 continents cultivating a passion for cultures, color and design. What inspires you?
Ronit: Color and shape first draw my eye and inspire me. My combinations are unique and aimed at creating harmony between a lady’s character and the outfit chosen for a specific occasion.

Tsitaliya: What message do you have for the modern woman?
Ronit: Always wear the color and style which suit YOU even if sometimes it means not following exactly the fashion trend. Characteristics that every woman should strive for are: style, chic and elegance.

Tsitaliya: As a woman and designer you can’t compromise with?
Ronit: I cannot compromise on bad taste and pour judgment of color matching
