Every new year carries new promises and expectations, new projections and predictions. While most of them are focused on economics and politics, the job market or the cosmic energy, here at Mums in Heels we want to start Conversations on Navigating the Realities of being a Modern Woman in 2024, the challenges ahead of us, the expectations and promises, and more importantly how to work with the potential and energies of this new year.

The first person to talk to, and we will keep going back to her, is Alessia von Rohr, the owner of The Goddess Collective. We already spoke to her a while back discussing spiritual practices and soul wellness for women. Today we ask her two questions:

Tsitaliya: Since Covid 19, there’s been a wave of strong spiritual renaissance around the world. It seems people are so confused and lost in information that they are trying to find an alternative way to knowing and understanding what’s happening. They are trying to look at the world not only intellectually but through the soul and the other senses. At the same time we are constantly bombarded with information about the Moon, the planets movement and the energies around them. We receive daily personal readings and horoscopes and at the end of the day we walk around quite confused what to expect and how to understand the events of our lives. There are so many interpretations and readings so what is your advice – how do we approach the topic of spirituality and the needs of the soul in 2024? How do we navigate this mess finding the right personal spiritual guide? 

Alessia von Rohr: Reading your question what comes to mind first and what I want to emphasize, even remind women is that each one of us has been born with intuition. What is intuition? It is definitely not an instinct, because we develop those later in life. It is not an emotion. It is a higher, refined sense, other than our five senses. Intuition is hard to pinpoint, to describe and recognise, but I believe everything is based on our intuition: the choices we make, the emotions we feel, my work for The Goddess Collective is also based on intuition. Now, women are known to be better at listening to the inner voice, something that, because of our culture, men prefer not to do or not as openly as we do. But everyone has this voice, and the more you listen to it, the easier it is to hear. But first, we must learn to tune in to the right channel. And unfortunately, it is not by turning a button like on the radio in the car that you find it.

Your spiritual guide is within you. And we have to stop looking outwards all the time in search of the latest novelty, to the latest Astro influencer. Of course, the information they give us is useful, for goodness’ sake, I’m the first one to read too much (laughs), but the important thing is then to use this material and ask yourself the question: is it really so for me? What do I need now? What can I do with this information? This connection is extremely important, and the sooner we make it, the better.

Start listening to your inner voice, it is never too late. It may be when you go hungry, ask yourself body, what do you feel like eating today? Or listen to what your intuition tells you before you face a meeting. Or how you react thinking about a certain person. The answers we seek in the end are all within us.

Intuition has to do with our connection to the world around us

Tsitaliya: Lately a lot of women from the Mums in Heels community are sharing that they find the last year and this moment quite challenging. There was a lot of optimism for 2024, but it seems the year is not starting with a leap…can you tell us a little bit about the current moment? What are the 2024 cosmic trends and realities?

Alessia von Rohr:  The last few years have been difficult for many of us. Among the COVID 19, those who have lost a loved one, those who have moved abroad with their family starting from scratch, those who are lost, and those who are reflecting on their life journey without knowing what next!

Did you think you would start the New Year full of energy and vitality and feel exactly the opposite instead? This is likely due to astrological energy. Mercury was retrograde until the 2nd of January, but although it is now newly direct, the retrograde energy will continue to be felt for a while longer. Many waited for New Year’s Eve with trepidation, hoping that with the stroke of midnight, everything would change, but it did not. The bad news is that there is no magic wand that sweeps the dust under the carpet. But there is also good news: this year, for all those who worked, there will be a happy ending.

And here you will ask what it means to “have worked?” By this I mean all those who, in the period before, have done a lot of work on themselves, their flaws, their triggers, the emotional baggage they have been carrying around for so long. This baggage is what can define us if we let it, and we are abashed by it. We give way to the ego, which feeds on the likes of the selfies we post on Instagram and the lies we tell others and ourselves. We don’t see ourselves for who we are because, yes, it hurts! And who is so sadistic? Looking in the mirror is work that needs to be done to take off all the things we have on us dictated by ego. And it is only in this way that the universe, God, or whatever you believe in will repay you. Imagine a seed field, with perfect weather conditions, the perfect wheat could grow. But if you don’t sow, you can wait for infinity because nothing will grow.

This year is the year of transformations

More on 2024 trends and realities: This year is the year of transformations, as Pluto has changed its sign and is now in Aquarius, which will remain there for the next 20 years. A change then led to a new era, lighter but also faster. The transformations we will undergo will be a bit Sailor Moon-like, and those who have not done the work before will be thrown out of the window of the running bus at the first bend.

But have no fear because the year 2024 in the tarot is represented by the force (2+0+2+4=8 –> force card). (see blog post). It will be the lion or lioness within us, with love and compassion, who will give us the help we need. And as I said before, you don’t need to look elsewhere. We are all armed with our intuition, and what we need resides within us. All we have to do is discover it.
